Dashboard Beauty is a family story. Our family came to the United States from Vietnam in the early 1980s with nothing but determination. Mom became a nail tech, then a salon owner, and the kids grew up at her station. In 2018 we started making the tools she wished she'd had.

Early 1980s
A New Start in America
Our family arrived in the U.S., leaving behind everything they knew in Vietnam in search of a better life. Like many immigrant families, we did not have much, but we had determination.

1990s
Mom Opens Her First Salon
Mom found her place in the nail industry, starting out as a nail tech and eventually opening her own small, humble salons across California, Denver, Puerto Rico and New Jersey. Never glamorous, always built on hard work and long hours. She was not alone. My uncles and aunts followed similar paths and opened their own small salons, each one a testament to the resilience so many immigrant families bring to this industry.

Growing up
A Childhood at the Station
We grew up right in the middle of it all. As a kid, I went to work with Mom every day and watched her hustle, sometimes pulling 12-hour shifts, always focused on her craft and her clients. I saw firsthand how much love and energy she poured into every set, not for fame or fortune but to build a better life for us. It taught me the value of hard work, the pride in craftsmanship and the importance of community.

A Blog That Sparked It All
I started a simple blog about Mom's journey in the nail industry. I wanted to share her story, not just the work she did but the sacrifices behind it. That blog became more than a passion project. It became a community of nail techs with the same story.

Dashboard Beauty Is Born
With decades of family experience behind me, I launched Dashboard Beauty. It was never about creating another nail supply brand. It was about honoring nail techs like Mom, who built something from nothing, and giving them tools and resources that help them thrive. Our first product, a Kolinsky acrylic brush, shipped that year.

Built for Working Techs
We have grown into cuticle oil, files and drill bits, and we are working with brand partners to bring nail pros more of the essentials they need. Every product is tested behind a real chair before it goes on the site, and we are just getting started.
